The
Ewerby Book
The Ewerby Reading Room received a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund
to produce a book about Ewerby Village at the beginning of the 21st
century.
The book is
in four parts, the first being a tour around Ewerby, Ewerby Thorpe and
Haverholme showing pictures of all of the village properties with
notations from the residents, a description of our fine church with
details of restoration work and changes which have taken place over the
recent years.
The second
part of the book is about the history of the local area. The Earls of
Winchilsea and Nottingham, their ancestors and members of the family who
lived at Haverholme and Ewerby. This section also looks at other
prominent people from Ewerby who have influenced the lives of the
villagers in the past. The Ewerby Charities and events in Ewerby during
the 20th century.
The third
part of the book is a compilation of memories collected from people,
near and far, who grew up in Ewerby from the 1930's onwards.
The final
section of the book is a collection of photographs of village life from
early in the 20th century to the present day.
All of the
households in Ewerby, Ewerby Thorpe and Haverholme will be entitled to a
copy of the book together with all the people who have contributed to
the contents with their memories. Anyone unable to attend the launch may
contact Irene Austen on 461074 after the launch date.
